Ultra Rare 'Boomerang' Desk by Jos De Mey for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers, 1960s
Amazing ‘Boomerang’ desk designed by Jos De Mey for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers in the early 1960s. One of a kind design with a boomerang shaped top in original green formica combined with a drawer section in walnut. The brass handles and feet add the finishing and luxury touch to this fantastic centerpiece. Next to the beautiful green color another remarkable extra is the slide-out tray with walnut handle which adds another decorative element and which I have not seen before on the few of these desks offered on the market before. The top has been professionally restored and fully matched to the original color. Some patina present on the legs. Comes with two original keys.
Location: Warehouse (by appointment)
Jos De Mey (1928-2007) attended the Municipal Higher Institute of Architecture in Ghent, with none other than Gaston Eysselinck as his teacher. In the 1950s, De Mey himself became known as one of the best Belgian furniture designers, and rightly so. He worked as a designer for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers in Ghent, as well as for Luxus in Kortrijk. In 1968 he starts a successful career as a painter.
