Rare Double-Sided Coffee Table by Jos De Mey for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers, 1960s
Rare double-sided coffee table designed by Jos De Mey around 1960. Made of walnut with a reversible top in black and white formica or plain wood. It also has a magazine rack underneath and a hidden drawer on one side. Interesting and decorative piece in very nice original condition with a nice patina. Produced and labeled by Van Den Berghe-Pauvers.

Jos De Mey (1928-2007) attended the Municipal Higher Institute of Architecture in Ghent, with none other than Gaston Eysselinck as his teacher. In the 1950s, De Mey himself became known as one of the best Belgian furniture designers, and rightly so. He worked as a designer for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers in Ghent, as well as for Luxus in Kortrijk. In 1968 he starts a successful career as a painter.
