Important armchair made out of teak wood designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the administrative buildings in Chandigarh, India 1950s. A minimal and timeless design that recently gained a great reputation and the original chairs are well sought after. This example has been restored in its original form and has new woven cane seating. Historic piece!
Pierre Jeanneret was a Swiss architect and furniture designer. For many years he worked together with his cousin Charles Eduard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier. Together they designed buildings and furniture. In 1950, they where both asked to redesign the city of Chandigarh, to become the capital of the State of Punjab, after the Indo-Pakistan war. Next to buildings, Jeanneret also designed furniture for this project, independently and with Le Corbusier .
